Use the guide for learning outcomes, structure, CPD hours, evaluation and preparing an accreditation-ready course.
Open Course Design GuideCourses are independently assessed against the CPD Ireland Course Accreditation Standard. Application, payment or signing does not guarantee accreditation.
Open Accreditation StandardThe Provider Portal is your workspace for accreditation activity, not a replacement for the public CPD Register.
Start with your Public Profile — if you already have a website, use Import from website to create the first draft. Add trainers once so you can reuse them across courses, then start your first private course draft. If that course already has a public webpage, use Import course details to pre-fill supported information for you to review. You can save and return later; nothing enters assessment until you explicitly submit it.
The Overview summarises accredited courses, open submissions and items where CPD Ireland has released actions for your organisation. The attention panel highlights the next thing that needs you, if anything.
No. The Portal is your private working area. The CPD Register remains the authoritative public record of published provider and course accreditation.
Your agreement records the commercial arrangement. Accreditation is still earned through independent course assessment.
No. Signing establishes the Provider Agreement. A course is accredited only after successful assessment against the CPD Ireland Accreditation Standard and a final CPD Ireland accreditation decision.
One distinct course submitted under the agreement counts as one course review. For example, “10 reviews” means up to ten distinct course reviews during the agreement term, not ten assessor interactions.
No, where the resubmission is a reasonable continuation of the same course/submission following assessor feedback. A genuinely new or materially different course submitted separately may count as another review.
The Your plan panel in the Provider Portal shows reviews used/remaining and the agreement end date. Use View agreement to open the read-only signed agreement.
Contact CPD Ireland to discuss a plan change. Plan changes are not self-service in the Portal and signed agreement terms are not edited in place.
Unused course review allowance expires at the end of the agreement term unless explicitly agreed otherwise.
The Provider Agreement should be signed by the authorised signatory named in the Commercial Schedule — someone authorised to enter the agreement for your organisation.
Your plan panel shows the current agreement end date. CPD Ireland will confirm renewal/commercial arrangements before the current agreement ends; automated self-service renewal is not currently available in the Portal.
Build a private draft first. Formal submission is a separate action that creates the evidence snapshot used for assessment.
Create a private draft, enter the course details and structured evidence, select trainer(s) from your Trainer Library, add the evidence the assessor needs to review the course, review everything and then formally submit. Evidence can be uploaded course files, a secure video/LMS/hosted-course review link, a transcript/caption file, or an appropriate combination. Saving a draft never starts assessment.
It securely retrieves the public course page you provide, and at most one clearly relevant same-site course page, then uses AI to suggest supported draft fields such as title, summary, audience, delivery, stated duration, outline and learning outcomes. You review every suggestion before applying it.
No. AI import does not approve CPD hours, change accreditation status, submit the course or make an assessor decision. Proposed CPD hours remain provider-proposed until CPD Ireland makes the final decision.
No. CPD Ireland assesses the quality and suitability of the learning as CPD, including its purpose, outcomes, structure, evidence, trainer/subject-matter credibility, evaluation and CPD hours. Your organisation remains responsible for the factual accuracy, currency and applicable legal or regulatory compliance of the course content. Where specialist accuracy matters, CPD Ireland may rely on credible subject-matter assurance, qualifications or sources, or require additional specialist review before accreditation.
Continue manually. AI import is an optional convenience and never blocks the normal submission workflow. Information that is not supported by the retrieved page should remain empty rather than be guessed.
Not when the same evidence is clearly entered in the structured Portal fields. Supporting files remain optional for those items. The assessor still needs access to the substantive learning content, which can be supplied as course files or an appropriate secure hosted-course review link.
Add a secure HTTPS review link in How can our assessor review the course?. Choose Video, LMS or Hosted eLearning, add a clear label, and provide temporary access instructions where needed. You can also upload supporting slides, workbooks and a transcript/caption file.
No. Large direct video uploads are not normally required or supported. Use an unlisted, password-protected or temporary review link and keep it active until the accreditation review is complete.
Prefer an unlisted link, time-limited access, password-protected review link or dedicated temporary reviewer account. Do not provide a personal administrator login, reusable corporate admin password or another employee's credentials. Review access instructions are private to authorised provider, assessor and CPD Ireland Admin workflows.
VTT, SRT, TXT and PDF transcripts/captions can be uploaded up to the Portal file-size limit. Plain-text transcripts can be opened in the secure review area. A transcript is supporting evidence and does not automatically prove the complete learning experience.
Keep review access active until the assessment is complete. If the assessor cannot access the link because it is unavailable, denied, expired, incorrect or points to the wrong course, CPD Ireland can use the existing Actions Required workflow so you can replace the URL or access information without overwriting the earlier submitted round.
Yes. Choose Start from an existing course when creating a course. CPD Ireland creates a separate private draft and can reuse appropriate course details, current Trainer Library selections and provider-standard methods. You must review and update the copied information before formal submission.
Accreditation never carries over. Approval numbers, accreditation/publication status, approved CPD hours, assessor assignment and decisions, Actions Required history, learner certificates, Register state and historical submission records are not copied.
No. Reusing stored course files/transcripts and reusing review-access setup are separate opt-in choices. Reused stored files reference the original evidence safely rather than duplicating the blob; removing or replacing them in the new draft does not delete the source evidence. A copied hosted-course setup has its course-specific URL cleared so you must add and confirm the new course URL.
Yes. Save a standard provider attendance/participation method and/or learner evaluation method, then reuse it on multiple drafts. At formal submission CPD Ireland stores the exact text used, so later edits to your standard method do not alter historical submissions.
The assessor reviews and recommends. CPD Ireland Administration makes the final accreditation decision.
Ready for assessment means your required evidence has been submitted. Assessor assigned means CPD Ireland has allocated the reviewer. Assessment in progress is normal assessment activity. Awaiting accreditation decision means the assessor has completed their recommendation. Actions required means CPD Ireland has released changes for you to address. Accredited means CPD Ireland has made the final decision.
No. It is the normal status while the assigned assessor is reviewing your course evidence.
The assessor reviews the evidence and makes a recommendation. CPD Ireland Administration makes the final accreditation decision and controls final approved CPD hours and publication.
No. Provider correspondence is managed by CPD Ireland. Workflow emails come from CPD Ireland Assessments <assessments@cpd-ireland.com>; assessor email addresses are not exposed to providers.
Actions required is not a rejection. Update the structured evidence and/or supporting files that actually changed, explain your response and resubmit through the existing round. Earlier evidence remains preserved.
CPD Ireland creates the authoritative course record as a Draft, checks the final register details and publishes it through the Admin process. Your accreditation outcome remains visible in the submission, and the course record becomes available through My Courses; public listing follows the CPD Register publication rules.
Add a trainer once, keep their professional evidence current and reuse it across relevant course submissions.
It is your private reusable record of trainer accreditation evidence. Add a trainer once, keep their bio, experience, qualifications and optional CV up to date, then select them across multiple course submissions.
Yes. Select every trainer who is relevant to delivery. Trainer suitability is still assessed for the specific course; being in your library does not automatically make a trainer suitable for every subject.
When a course is submitted, CPD Ireland stores an immutable snapshot of the selected trainer evidence. Later edits or archiving do not change historical submissions. An archived trainer no longer appears as a normal choice for new submissions.
Usually you do not need to if the Trainer Library record is complete. Use the optional trainer evidence upload when a particular course needs extra evidence beyond the reusable trainer profile.
Your profile content is provider-managed; official accreditation records remain controlled by CPD Ireland.
Open Public Profile in the Provider Portal, choose Edit profile, update or import your draft content, preview it and publish when ready. This does not alter CPD Ireland's official accreditation records.
It securely reads a small number of public pages from the website you provide — normally the homepage and clearly linked About/Services pages — then uses AI to suggest text for the existing Public Profile fields. Suggestions are not CPD Ireland verification and are never published automatically.
Yes. Check every suggested statement before applying it, especially contact details, locations, services and sector wording. If a field already contains content, the suggestion is kept separate until you explicitly select it.
The importer may suggest suitable public images found on your website. If selected, CPD Ireland copies the supported PNG/JPG/WebP image into the existing private provider-profile storage; the public profile does not hotlink the external file. Your organisation remains responsible for having the right to use any selected image.
You can continue editing the Public Profile manually. Some sites block automated retrieval or render most content only in browser JavaScript, so the importer may not be able to extract enough usable information.
Official course details and accreditation outputs are read-only because they come from CPD Ireland's authoritative records.
No. Proposed hours are part of your submission evidence. Final approved CPD hours are determined by CPD Ireland.
Not from the Provider Portal. Canonical course details and the approved descriptor are controlled by CPD Ireland. Contact us where a material course change is needed.
Open Certificates & Badges in the Provider Portal. Where available, you can download the authoritative course certificate and badge pack and copy the approved descriptor. Badge use must follow the Badge Use Policy.
Only in accordance with the Badge Use Policy and only where the badge correctly relates to the accredited course. CPD Ireland does not certify or assess individual learners.
Expired accreditation is no longer current and badge-use rights are governed by the Badge Use Policy. Renewal functionality is not currently available in this Portal; contact CPD Ireland if you need guidance.
Provider access is organisation-scoped and assessor contact details remain private.
Yes, where CPD Ireland has created active provider memberships for those colleagues. Provider users cannot add or reassign Portal users themselves.
Provider Portal access is deliberately isolated by organisation. Your authenticated membership controls which provider records and private files you can access.
Use Contact support from the initials menu or the button below. Choose the area you need help with and CPD Ireland will route it to the right team automatically. You can attach a screenshot where useful.
