1. Operator and scope
CPD Ireland is operated by IACT, 32 Fitzwilliam Street Upper, Dublin 2, Ireland. These terms apply to use of the CPD Ireland website and, where relevant, to applications for and use of CPD Ireland accreditation.
If IACT/CPD Ireland and a provider enter into a separate written agreement, order form or contract, that document will prevail to the extent of any direct inconsistency with these website terms.
2. What accreditation means
CPD Ireland reviews submitted provider/course information against its published or internal review criteria. A successful decision means that CPD Ireland has determined that the relevant provider/course met those criteria at the time and for the version assessed.
Accreditation is attached to the scope, version, delivery arrangements and other information reviewed. It is not permission to represent materially different or unreviewed courses as accredited.
3. Professional and regulatory recognition
CPD Ireland accreditation is not a professional qualification, statutory approval, regulated award, licence to practise or learner certification by CPD Ireland.
Professional bodies, employers, regulators and membership organisations set their own CPD rules. CPD Ireland does not guarantee that any third party will accept a course, accreditation badge or stated CPD hours toward its requirements. Providers and learners are responsible for checking any body-specific requirements that matter to them.
4. Provider responsibilities
Providers must give accurate, current and complete information; submit materials they are authorised to share; identify the course/version being assessed; notify CPD Ireland of material changes that could affect accreditation; use approval numbers and badges accurately; and avoid claims that imply learner certification, regulatory approval or endorsement beyond the accredited scope.
Providers remain responsible for their course content, legal/regulatory compliance, delivery quality, trainers, learner assessment, certificates, marketing claims and the lawful handling of learner/trainer data.
Where a Provider uses the CPD Ireland learner certificate service, the Provider confirms that the named learner completed the training and is responsible for the accuracy and lawful supply of that learner information. CPD Ireland provides the certificate and verification infrastructure and confirms the accredited course record and approved CPD hours; it does not assess, examine or directly certify the individual learner.
5. Fees and VAT
Public prices are annual provider fees based on the applicable course allowance unless a separate quotation/agreement says otherwise. Prices shown on the CPD Ireland website exclude VAT. VAT will be charged where applicable.
Any payment dates, cancellation terms or bespoke commercial arrangements stated in an accepted quotation, order form or contract also apply.
6. Review, decisions and actions
CPD Ireland may request clarifications or additional evidence and may pause review while a submission is incomplete. The workflow may result in Accredited, Actions required, or Not accredited. Actions required means the provider may be asked to address specified points and resubmit evidence before a final accreditation decision.
An accreditation decision is based on the evidence available at the time. Providers may raise a process complaint or appeal a decision under the Complaints & Appeals Policy.
7. Validity, course changes and renewal
Accreditation is valid for the period stated by CPD Ireland. Continued use after expiry requires renewal or written confirmation from CPD Ireland. A provider must tell CPD Ireland about material changes to accredited content, learning outcomes, duration, delivery format, assessment approach or other features that could make the approved review no longer representative.
CPD Ireland may require a changed course to be reviewed again before existing approval claims continue.
8. Badge use and public Register
Badge use is conditional on current accreditation and compliance with the Badge Use Policy. CPD Ireland may list current, expired, suspended or withdrawn accreditation information in the public Register where appropriate to allow third parties to verify status.
Providers must not edit approval numbers, extend validity dates, or use a course badge for non-accredited courses or materially different versions.
9. Course materials, intellectual property and confidentiality
Providers retain ownership of their course materials and underlying intellectual property. By submitting materials, the provider gives CPD Ireland and its authorised assessors/service providers a limited right to receive, copy, store and review them for accreditation administration, quality assurance, complaints/appeals, security and recordkeeping.
CPD Ireland will treat non-public course materials as confidential except where disclosure is needed for assessment/service provision, is authorised by the provider, is already lawfully public, or is required by law.
10. Suspension and withdrawal
CPD Ireland may suspend, restrict or withdraw accreditation or badge-use rights where accreditation expires, required actions are not completed, materially inaccurate information was supplied, a provider misrepresents accreditation, material course changes invalidate the reviewed scope, serious badge misuse occurs, or maintaining accreditation would undermine the integrity of the scheme.
Where practicable and appropriate, CPD Ireland will explain the issue and allow the provider a reasonable opportunity to respond. Urgent temporary suspension may be used where needed to prevent misleading public claims while a matter is reviewed.
11. Liability and reliance
CPD Ireland uses reasonable care in carrying out accreditation reviews but does not warrant that accreditation will produce a particular commercial, tender, regulatory, membership or learner outcome. Providers remain responsible for the course and all claims made about it.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, any additional liability allocation agreed in a separate provider contract or order form will apply to the accreditation service covered by that agreement.
12. Website use
You may use this website for lawful information, verification and accreditation purposes. You must not attempt to interfere with the site, gain unauthorised access to restricted areas, submit malicious content, scrape or reuse accreditation data in a misleading way, or misuse CPD Ireland branding.
Website content may be updated as services and policies develop. The public Register should be used to verify current status rather than relying solely on older marketing material or certificates.
13. MyCPD learner accounts
MyCPD is a private record-keeping facility that helps an individual maintain CPD Ireland Verified certificates alongside CPD activity they record themselves. A learner must provide accurate account and CPD information, must only connect email addresses they control, and must not use MyCPD to impersonate another person or create fraudulent records.
Self-recorded CPD is the learner's responsibility. CPD Ireland does not independently verify learner-entered activities, claimed hours, notes or uploaded evidence merely because they are stored in MyCPD. Uploading evidence does not make an activity CPD Ireland approved, verified or certified.
For CPD Ireland Verified certificates, the Provider remains responsible for verifying learner completion and CPD Ireland confirms the accredited course record and approved CPD hours. MyCPD does not give a learner permission to edit those certificate facts.
MyCPD helps maintain a CPD record but does not guarantee that an activity or annual total satisfies the requirements of an employer, regulator, professional body, membership organisation or industry scheme. Those bodies determine their own acceptance criteria.
CPD Ireland may restrict or suspend a MyCPD account where reasonably necessary to address misuse, fraud, impersonation, security risk or material breach of these terms. Closing a MyCPD account does not automatically destroy the separate historical verification record for a Provider-issued certificate.
14. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the Irish courts, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
